WSJ seeks Mid-Atlantic reporter

The Wall Street Journal seeks an experienced general-assignment reporter for the mid-Atlantic region, a vital role covering one of the most diverse parts of the U.S. From the struggling schools of Philadelphia, to the ambitions of the Maryland governor, to rural mountain communities threatening to secede, and traditional coastline industries fighting to survive, the region offers rich opportunities for an energetic, curious reporter.

The right candidate will possess a deep knowledge of the area, show an investigative bent, and be able to demonstrate a practiced eye for exclusive news and lively features. Stories will include breaking news, page-one deep dives and quick hits. The position is based in Pennsylvania, Maryland or Delaware. Some travel would be necessary.

Candidates should have a proven track record of building sources, generating scoops and writing with depth, clarity and speed. Computer-assisted reporting skills and an ability to use data in daily stories as well as longer-term projects are a plus, as is a record of lively social media engagement and an understanding of how to use those platforms as a reporting tool.

Please attach a resume, cover letter and three to five published clips to your online application.
