WSJ seeks Microsoft reporter

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a reporter to join enterprise computing team, primarily covering Microsoft, one of the world’s most important companies and one in the throes of significant change.

Under new leadership, Microsoft is gaining back lost ground in some key markets and trying to push into new ones. It is winning new respect in Silicon Valley after years of enmity—and boasts a stock-market value of $370 billion.

Yet the company faces big challenges and competition on all fronts, and we are seeking an aggressive reporter who can chronicle its evolution. This reporter will also cover software-as-a-service firms, from Oracle and Salesforce to Box and Workday. Together, these firms comprise one of the hottest areas of corporate computing.

The successful candidate will have a track record of aggressive reporting that demonstrates an ability to get scoops, to spot critical trends before others, to write with insight and to bring the characters of a company to life. Experience covering Microsoft or enterprise computing is not essential, but a passion for the subject is. The position will be located in San Francisco; a special exception might be made for Seattle.

Applications should include a resume, cover letter and up to five published clips.
