The Wall Street Journal is looking to hire an innovation chief who will be overseeing a multi-disciplinary department and managing a newsroom-wide process for news innovation. The team will be made up largely of journalist-engineers but also include a designer and regular involvement from editors and reporters.
The innovation chief should have a mix of product management skills, a strong knowledge of engineering as well as knowledge and passion for journalism.
Some responsibilities will include keeping a portfolio of ideas, evaluating ideas and creating timely plans, managing the team and communicating effectively.
Candidates must have an experience of 3 to 5 years in online product management. They should also have the ability to gather user and business requirements and to communicate and drum up enthusiasm for vision among editorial, design, IA and development teammates.
Additionally, applicants must have knowledge of newsroom work flows, journalism standards and business news.
