WSJ seeks greater New York bureau chief

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an enterprising and creative editor to run the Greater New York bureau.

This is a chance to shape coverage at the heart of major stories. It is a relatively young area of coverage for WSJ and presents an opportunity to chart a new course.

The ideal candidate will identify high-impact stories and issues for us to cover. The editor will conceptualize ambitious storytelling for all platforms and work to make sure we’re reaching our readers in creative and effective ways.

The job requires news chops as well as enterprise thinking. The city of 8 million people and its surrounding areas produces endless stories. The editor will drive coverage of some of the biggest stories from terror attacks to transit snarls. The right editor will also have a quirky eye for spotting the humor to mine here.

The ability to mentor reporters and shape beat coverage is a must. The editor will work as part of a team of U.S. bureau chiefs.
