WSJ seeks editor to oversee global investing

The Wall Street Journal seeks a talented, inspirational leader to helm its global investing coverage.

This area — which covers hedge funds, mutual funds, asset managers, insurance, securities exchanges, and taxes — is one of the most exhilarating, high-stakes positions at the world’s leading financial news organization.

The post requires many complementary skills: An ability to guide and push up to 10 reporters, identify breaking news, conceive and execute feature stories, get ahead of industry trends, and collaborate with colleagues in New York and around the world.

The asset-management industry is in the midst of sharp changes today, with investors increasingly eschewing active-fund managers for more passive approaches. This is upsetting the fee structure of hedge funds, while also changing how big pension funds and asset managers approach their business.

Beneath it all are still more ominous trends: Low interest rates are bringing down returns across the board, which are decimating insurance companies and public pension plan expectations.

In short: It’s harder than ever to make a buck…and even harder to make a buck making bucks for others.

Are you a person with passion for understanding how the world works? And understand the stakes when tens of trillions of dollars are in the balance? Can you inspire the reporters to tell this story?

Please contact Dennis Berman at dennis.berman@wsj.com if you are interested. Be prepared to send hard-paper clips and resume to 1211 Avenue of the Americas, 5th Floor, New York NY 10036
