WSJ seeks editor for Risk & Compliance Journal and CFO Journal

The Wall Street Journal seeks an editor to with extensive experience covering business and finance to oversee two verticals that target professional audiences.

The person in this position would serve as the lead editor for the Risk and Compliance Journal and CFO Journal, focusing on corporate finance, accounting, risk, sanctions, and the range of issues confronting compliance officers and finance chiefs.

The New York-based editor will oversee the work of teams of reporters dedicated to these products, which include daily newsletters, online landing pages with news and analysis, and data tools. The main duties include working with both teams to conceptualize and develop daily and enterprise news stories that provide high-level insight to a specialty audience, as well as ensuring our daily newsletters have the right tone and content. S/he must be able to manage a diverse group of reporters in New York and London.

The ideal editor should have sound knowledge of the industry and the ability to identify and explain the complexities of corporate risk and finance. Experience exploring data to find and tell original stories and the ability to build charts and visuals to support them is essential.

This position is based in New York and reports to the Professional Products Editor.

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
