WSJ seeks deputy planning editor

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an editor with strong communication and organizational skills to play a linchpin role in coordinating newsroom coverage plans.

Working with the Planning Editor, this editor will manage editorial calendars and news planning tools, and will be responsible for ensuring they are updated with the latest plans from coverage and bureau chiefs.

This person will also help to ensure plans are shared with visual and video departments, as well as with platform editors and product developers. This person will support the effort to make the newsroom’s workflow more focused on digital and audience priorities.

This editor will also drive the selection and preparation of the best Wall Street Journal content for submission into journalism competitions, including the Pulitzer Prizes, the Gerald Loeb Awards, and the Overseas Press Club Awards. He or she coordinates with top editors to identify the best content packages, strategize where they should be entered, and work through often-complex entry processes.
