WSJ seeks deputy editor, standards and ethics in NY

The Wall Street Journal is hiring for a deputy editor to join the company’s standards and ethics department.

The candidate should have a demonstrated expertise and insight in setting and maintaining reporting and style standards. For this role the Journal is also seeking an editor to help focus on matters of race and identity.

Some of the duties include:

  • Maintaining the highest and most rigorous standards of fairness and integrity and is a model for ethical, fact-based news reporting
  • Handle pre-publication review of some of the Journal’s most essential journalism, working with Dow Jones media attorneys and editors to guide reporters
  • Resolve issues that may come up after publication
  • Help the newsroom continue to review and evolve its standards
  • Help train journalists on standards and ethics

REQUIREMENTS:

  • More than 10 years of journalism experience, including high-level editing and managerial experience
  • A clear sense of fairness, keen news judgment and an unwavering commitment to truth
  • Significant knowledge of The Wall Street Journal’s standards and processes

The job reports to Emma Moody, the Journal’s standards and ethics editor.
