WSJ seeks deputy bureau chief for Tokyo

The Wall Street Journal’s Tokyo bureau is seeking a deputy bureau chief/senior editor. This editor would work with bureau chief on all aspects of bureau management including editing, scheduling, story assignment and long-range planning of features. The editor may take responsibility for particular coverage areas depending on qualifications.

Job Requirements: At least 10 years of journalism experience including experience as an editor and/or manager. Demonstrated ability to explain complex subjects and write engagingly. Experience covering Japan news and Japanese-language ability preferred but not required.

The Tokyo bureau is at the center of some of the most exciting news stories in the region including Abenomics and regional security tensions. The bureau also publishes the popular Japan Real Time blog and works closely with the team producing the Journal’s widely read Japanese-language site.
