The Wall Street Journal is looking for a journalist to join the New York Health & Science team as Deputy Bureau Chief and help lead a team of crack reporters covering a fifth of the U.S. economy.
This is an opportunity to define industry-leading coverage at a crucial time, as the pharmaceutical, health-insurance, hospital and medical-device industries face pressures to change how they do business and reduce costs.
At the same time, scientific advances are taking off in the fields of genetics, artificial intelligence and more, posing new ethical and logistical challenges. The ideal candidate will have the ability to guide reporters, make smart decisions in real time, and develop revealing and ambitious enterprise journalism.
We are looking for someone eager to conceptualize and experiment with various forms of storytelling, from graphics to videos. The job calls for an experienced editor, or a seasoned reporter seeking to move to editing.
The position mostly involves editing but would allow for some reporting projects. A health or science background is a plus but not a requirement.
