WSJ seeks city hall reporter in New York

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an ambitious reporter to cover City Hall in New York.

The heart of the beat is New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, an interesting figure both for his policies in New York and role on the national political stage. The successful beat reporter will identify and cover high-impact stories and issues crossing his agenda from housing to homelessness, policing to public education.

The job requires news chops as well as enterprise thinking. The city of 8 million people produces endless stories. The reporter will be at the heart of some of the biggest stories from terror attacks to transit snarls.

This beat offers the opportunity to conceptualize ambitious storytelling for all platforms, online and in print. The City Hall reporter will write for the Greater New York section as well the rest of the paper and online. New York is an important story nationally that we want to dominate.

We put a big value on the ability to collaborate with colleagues; the reporter will work from our desk in City Hall’s famous room 9 as well as the Journal’s New York newsroom. We are looking for someone with a track record of breaking news and doing memorable work.
