The Wall Street Journal is seeking an assistant news editor to carefully but quickly edit spot news stories for the newswires and wsj.com, in addition to handling Market Talks and some feature stories. The candidate would also be trained to run the Journal’s digital editions and handle real-time alerts for all platforms.
The ideal candidate would be able to work quickly when necessary and understand that wires readers and web readers are two different audiences with different needs. They would also be asked to edit longer and broader stories for wsj.com, where speed is less of a consideration.
This person would also need to think digitally with their stories for wsj.com by editing and adding charts and photos, in addition to writing snappy headlines that are good for search purposes. The candidate will also work as a liaison with the video department.
