WSJ seeks an energy reporter in Houston

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a reporter to join our energy team to cover the rapidly growing green power industry.

The world is going through a historic transformation as clean energy sources challenge the centuries-old dominance of fossil fuels, threatening corporate giants such as Exxon and creating new titans such as NextEra. Companies are attracting tens of billions of dollars from investors in this green energy rush.

We are looking for an enterprising reporter who can dig into these businesses to break news and produce enterprising stories detailing the corporate, political and economic sides of the green boom. Experience covering energy is not required. But you should have a deep curiosity about the subject and a proven ability to develop sources, master complex topics and write clearly and authoritatively.

You should be eager to pursue myriad forms of storytelling. The beat also requires close cooperation with reporters in London, New York, Washington and elsewhere around the world. Several years of reporting experience is required.

The position is based in Houston, America’s energy capital and fourth-largest city. You will report to Miguel Bustillo, the Journal’s U.S. energy editor.

To apply, please submit your resume, cover letter and up to five clips.
