The Wall Street Journal is looking a news reporter for the Tech Bureau in San Francisco to help serve our readers’ appetite for fast, timely stories on developments across the country’s biggest industry.
Tech companies today not only dominate big swathes of the economy but help to shape how almost everyone lives and works. We are looking for an energetic journalist who combines curiosity about this industry with a demonstrated ability to spot news and produce stories that are informed, incisive and accurate. Mental agility, clear writing, and strong organizational skills are key, as you will need to jump among subjects, get up to speed and deliver on issues from social-media influencers to cloud computing to ransomware. You must be a top-notch communicator and collaborator with colleagues.
You will primarily cover spot news; you also will have opportunities for enterprise reporting as well as work on graphics, podcasts, and video. The right person will be an industrious self-starter who moves quickly and has a positive attitude. The role doesn’t require extensive work experience; strong news writing skills are a must. Knowledge of tech is a bonus.
