The position will be based in China and focus heavily on developments in that country’s technology industry, where a flood of money and ideas has eroded Silicon Valley’s longtime monopoly on innovation.
The job also involves exploring how the internet is changing — and being changed by — the habits of new users in markets like Southeast Asia and India as it is extended to the world’s last holdouts.
The successful candidate will be a curious and enterprising reporter able to spot important trends, inventions and setbacks — and to bring them to life through columns, video and live events.
Requirements include expertise or deep interest in technology and a high degree of creativity in expression.
