WSJ seeks a reporter in London

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a reporter in its London bureau to cover political and general news. The successful candidate will be expected to keep abreast and ahead of important political developments in the U.K. while having the reporting and writing skills to dive deeper into issues of interest to the Journal’s readership.

The U.K. is in many ways a happy hunting ground for us, providing a large number of lively stories for an exacting readership often familiar with the country. The last few years has witnessed, among other things, two general elections, referendums on Scottish independence and on leaving the European Union, multiple terrorist attacks, the attempted murder of an exiled Russian intelligence office, a deadly fire in a high rise, and a royal wedding. These stories, some of which laid bare unexpected divisions in British life, have been among the most closely followed of the decade. There is every expectation it will continue.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team that cooperates closely to cover British society, its economy and politics. She or he will be ready to leap on frequent news developments, understand the intricacies of British politics, its social mores and Brexit, while carving out time for revealing long-form journalism.
