WSJ seeks a media reporter

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a reporter to cover big media companies at the dawn of a new era in the industry.

The largest TV network owners, including Viacom, CBS, Fox and AT&T’s WarnerMedia, are trying to reinvent themselves to counter the rise of cable cord-cutting, competition from Netflix, and the prospect of tech giants like Google and Facebook snatching away ad budgets. Some are pursuing blockbuster mergers. Others are betting on direct-to-consumer online services.

The position calls for an experienced reporter who can source deep inside and around big companies, and emerge with scoops on the next big moves media moguls will make.

Equally important is the ability to deliver high-impact features and narratives on the future of television, and the colorful personalities who will determine it. Facility with data and visuals is a significant plus.
