WSJ seeks a Hollywood beat reporter

The Wall Street Journal seeks a reporter to cover the film business. You will be responsible for covering major Hollywood studios, streaming services, talent agencies, unions, theaters and myriad other players. You will be expected to understand the economics of movie-making in the age of streaming as well as gather sources at the top levels and boards of Hollywood’s biggest companies as well as among its working talent.

You should have at least 3-5 years of experience covering a business or finance beat and a proven ability to get scoops as well as write enterprise pieces. Experience with the subject matter, though welcome, isn’t required. You should be eager to learn about Hollywood and be able to bring both business sensibility and cultural acumen. You should also be open to different forms of storytelling, such as through the Journal’s podcast, video and social media outlets.

While you may start this job remotely, you will be based in the Los Angeles bureau. You will report to Liz Rappaport. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating closely with other reporters both in L.A. and around the world.
