This person should be excited to uncover connections between advanced-threat groups, salivate at the prospect of untangling a complex web of IP addresses, social media accounts, historical website registrations and malware hashes, and enjoy working on a team and across the broader newsroom.
Candidates should have experience with scripting languages, database tools, analytical methods and social media APIs. Some experience with internet architecture, protocols and research tools is necessary. Candidates should value accuracy and have a heavy dose of curiosity.
While not necessary, experience analyzing malware and other artifacts stemming from cybersecurity incidents is a plus.
