WSJ seeks a business editor in Beijing

The Wall Street Journal’s Beijing bureau is looking for an editor to lead coverage of China’s fast-evolving business scene —from its tech titans and nimble startups to its corporate conglomerates and upstart private entrepreneurs.

The position sits on the front line of story of global importance: the ever larger footprint Chinese businesses have around the world, while the government tightens controls at home, drawing fire from the U.S.

We’re looking for a seasoned hand with a keen understanding of business who can deliver richly detailed stories of impact, guiding and editing the work of a sharp team of reporters.

The territory comes with the widest swathe of the business landscape: major multinationals from Apple to Wal-Mart count China as a crucial market, and Chinese companies like Alibaba and Tencent that are increasingly influential abroad. Tech is a priority. Collaborative skills are a must as is the ability to work under pressure and remain in good cheer.

Chinese language ability and a knowledge of China are pluses but not essential.

To apply, go here.
