WSJ Opinion seeks assistant news editor

WSJ Opinion is seeking an Assistant Editor to support a new newsletter launched in partnership with WSJ CEO Council.

The AE will play a lead role in ensuring that breaking news and developing stories are curated and incorporated into the newsletter, which will be published six days per week.

The person in this role will also coordinate closely with editors on the Opinion pages, as well as copy editors and members of the conferences team, to guarantee that the journalistic and commercial requirements of the newsletter are met consistently.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a proven ability to understand the value of news of a wide range of topics, with a particular emphasis on breaking down complex topics and major news stories on tight deadlines.

Experience editing for digital platforms and an understanding of how to make content resonate with online readers are also important.

Solid news judgement, top-notch writing skills, strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure are essential.

He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
