WWD seeks a media reporter in its New York office to cover news in a rapidly changing business landscape, especially how digital media and technology is shaping the industry.
The reporter will be responsible for breaking news and writing in-depth analysis stories. We are looking for someone who is passionate and hungry who will bring creative ideas and spirited reporting skills. The ideal candidate should have at least two to three years of reporting and writing experience, preferably on the media beat or covering business, advertising or tech in some capacity. The successful applicant should have proven experience in reporting and finding scoops for a news organization, and should possess the ability to write feature stories.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the media and advertising industries
- Minimum of two years of media, tech or business reporting and writing experience
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time coverage and produce daily updates on the latest trends and events impacting digital and print media for WWD’s daily report, as well as weekly magazine. Coverage will include how companies such as Facebook and Snapchat are impacting the industry, as well as changes in the advertising market.
- Identify and develop feature stories, as well as dig out scoops on media companies, executives and personalities.
- Identify and develop relationships with new sources. Attend media parties, events and industry functions.
