Wisconsin State Journal seeks a growth and development reporter

Madison is the fastest-growing city in Wisconsin. New apartments and shops are popping up everywhere, rents are skyrocketing and businesses are expanding. The Wisconsin State Journal is creating a growth and development beat, and if you’re ready to help us carve a path for this important coverage we want to hear from you.

This reporter will cover breaking development news but will also write enterprise stories on issues such as the housing crisis. The ideal candidate is someone who uses data to hold agencies accountable and tell important stories, but doesn’t forget to tell the stories of the people affected by growth. This reporter might take readers into a $1 million home one day and into the middle of a debate over historic preservation the next. Development and growth are the biggest issues facing the region right now, so if you want to be at the forefront of this coverage, apply today.

To be considered for the position, applicants must apply online at  www.madison.com/workhere. As part of your online application, please attach a cover letter and five samples of your work or links to five recent stories. If you’ve done video work, please also include links to three recent videos.

The deadline to apply is Monday, March 11.
