The Wisconsin State Journal is looking for a business reporter to keep up with what’s happening at Madison’s largest companies. This reporter would cover the business of healthcare so readers can understand the impact and stay ahead of the biggest business trends. The ideal candidate would work to tell stories in new ways to capture audiences where they are, and they would be comfortable juggling daily stories and longer investigative pieces.

Position Responsibilities

  • Write daily stories and in-depth enterprise business stories
  • Produce video, maps and graphics that can help readers understand complex issues
  • Help with general assignment and breaking news assignments as needed.
  • This journalist will report to the city editor and work with a team of 10 news and feature reporters.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience with taking and editing video is ideal
  • Familiarity with analytics tools is recommended
  • A valid driver’s license and vehicle is required. This reporter would be located in Madison.

Education & Experience

  • Two years of experience in journalism preferred
  • Please include 3 to 5 clips with your application
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
