Journo Jobs

Wired is looking for writers

Time for my semi-regular call for pitches for Wired Ideas! Right now, I’m particularly interested in pieces related to democracy and governance, abortion, and future of work.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

WIRED seeks to illuminate how technology is changing every aspect of our lives—from culture to business, science to design. It is the essential source of information and ideas that make sense of a world in constant transformation. WIRED’s ideas section publishes argument-driven essays on WIRED-related topics, written by journalists, academics, and other subject-matter experts.

RECENT PIECES INCLUDE

Eleanor Cumming on political time and whether democratic institutions can act quickly enough to deal with accelerating crises.

Anna Waldman-Brown on the automation/robot question: German factories have more robots than their US counterparts—so why are Americans four times more likely to leave their manufacturing jobs.

And also this very speculative Rose Eveleth piece on athletes and genetic privacy.

And how could I not mention Kathering Cross‘s series on social media and politics, with smart critiques of everything from subtweeting to the culture of vibes.
