Wick Communications seeks a managing editor, Madison Daily Leader

Wick Communications is looking for a managing editor to lead the Madison Daily Leader in South Dakota.

In this position, you’ll oversee all newsgathering for the Daily Leader, a pillar of the community with roots going back to the 1880s.

Today, the Madison Daily Leader has a growing digital audience and connects with readers through email newsletters, social media, mobile apps and regular print publications.

Successful candidates will have a history of producing quality journalism in both print and digital.

We’re looking for someone living in, or willing to relocate to Madison.

Duties include:

  • Overseeing the newsroom’s two reporters
  • Coaching and developing the reporters
  • Contributing original content and editing daily news coverage for online and print publication.
  • The managing editor will also work with designers for the print layout.
  • The managing editor will also build community engagement through regular outreach and events.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent editing skills
  • 5+ years of journalism experience
  • Experience leading a news team
  • Social media management, newsletter writing or multimedia editing are pluses
  • Living in, or willing to relocate to Madison.
