The Daily News of Longview is looking for an energetic and experienced business reporter to cover our ports, industry, retail and labor beats.
We are a small paper, but we think big. We expect our reporters to do enterprise stories that get behind the headlines. We jump on breaking news and cede nothing to large news organizations on regional stories that overlap our coverage area. We’re feisty and aggressive, and our long record of awards and regional reputation for excellence proves it.
The selected candidate will cover an economy traditionally based on timber and other natural resources but that is transitioning into energy export and production.
Several large industrial projects have recently been proposed for our coverage area, raising a host of story possibilities about growth, labor, housing, real estate and social change. The business beat here has always been an exciting task and will continue to be one of our marquee beats.
The chosen reporter will have skills in using social media to distribute news electronically and be quick on his/her feet to get it posted. Photography skills also would be a plus.
