This reporter will be responsible for writing news, enterprise and features about issues such as the changing labor market, the drivers of economic growth, trade and monetary policy. This writer will have responsibility for coverage of major economic news and key decisions by the Federal Reserve. But we are also looking for a reporter who can envision and produce enterprise stories, reported from Washington and around the country, exploring the human impact of economic policies and trends.
It is a critical time for this role. Stories to unwind include a potential new Fed chair, a rise in protectionism and new skepticism about globalization, a growing realization of how automation is affecting workers, labor shortages, middle-class wage growth and far more.
Candidates will be expected to be creative thinkers, aggressive reporters and skilled writers. Candidates should be prepared to show a deep interest and familiarity with the key elements of this beat.
Interested individuals should contact David Cho (david.cho@washpost.com), Zachary Goldfarb (zachary.goldfarb@washpost.com) or Tracy Grant (tracy.grant@washpost.com) by Aug. 18.
