This is a full-time position that requires strong news judgment and versatility. The ideal candidate will have a sense of urgency when news breaks, the capacity to mobilize our large staff in response to major events, and the ability to edit sharp, comprehensive stories and explainers on deadline. We are looking for someone who can scan the horizon each day, spot trends and patterns in financial news, and seize opportunities to tell stories of consequence to our readers.
A collegial spirit is essential: This editor will help run our breaking news and general assignment team Monday through Friday from roughly 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, working closely with the desk’s various assignment editors. This person also will collaborate regularly with journalists across The Post’s newsroom, particularly breaking news teams associated with politics, foreign and the paper’s round-the-clock news operations in London and Seoul.
Part of a major expansion of The Post’s editing ranks, this position can be based in either our Washington newsroom or in our San Francisco bureau.
Interested candidates should upload a résumé with links to their work and a cover letter outlining the experience they would bring to the position to our jobs portal. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, but those received by 07/03/2022 will be prioritized. Your cover letter should be addressed to Business Editor Lori Montgomery, Deputy Business Editor Damian Paletta, Breaking News Business Editor Robbie Olivas DiMesio and Managing Editor, Krissah Thompson.
