Washington Post seeks a tech culture reporter

October 25, 2018

Posted by Chris Roush

The Washington Post is seeking a reporter to write about one of the technology sector’s most fascinating creations – its culture.

We are looking for a reporter who will explain tech culture through its people – the executives, venture capitalists, programmers, disruptors and inventors who shape the industry’s vision of the future. This reporter should be able to interview and glean perspectives from these tech leaders, as well as write revealingly about their lives.

Based in San Francisco, this writer should be prepared to deliver stories about these tech disruptors that will both captivate the average reader and surprise insiders.

We are also seeking a reporter who has a keen eye for stories that explore the underbelly of Silicon Valley’s culture — the tech workers who struggle to succeed, the industry’s records on gender equality and diversity, and the difficulties faced by working- and middle-class people who live in the shadow of enormous tech wealth.

This reporter will be part of a significant expansion of our technology team, which will include the hiring of reporters, editors and video journalists in San Francisco, Seattle and our Washington newsroom.

Interested candidates should send a resume, cover letter and three clips to David Cho David.Cho@washpost.com, Zachary Goldfarb Zachary.Goldfarb@washpost.com, Christina Passariello Christina.Passariello@washpost.com, or Tracy Grant Tracy.Grant@washpost.com by Nov. 9.
