Washington Examiner seeks economic policy reporter

The Washington Examiner wishes to hire a finance and economic policy reporter to join its news team.

The high-profile and demanding beat means covering Congress and the administration, the regulatory state, and general economic trends and developments. First and foremost, this is a job for a journalist committed to the rigors and excitement of online reporting.

It is not well suited to someone for whom fast-paced news writing is secondary, and discussion of economic theory is the principal attraction. The successful candidate will have not only an understanding of complex economic policy issues but also the ability to convey them to a broader audience in an entertaining and accessible way.

The candidate should also have a firm grasp of how policy debates are at the heart of political conflict. This position will suit those who have demonstrated an ability to break news and win exclusives.

The ideal candidate will have several years of journalism experience and bring both the ability to write clearly and concisely under deadline conditions and a talent for developing longer form features for the web and our weekly print magazine.

Qualified applicants should send an introductory email, resume, and writing samples to: jlawler@washingtonexaminer.com
