Washington Examiner seeks a business reporter

The Washington Examiner is seeking a reporter to cover the intersection of politics and business.

This reporter will work with the business editor and news desk to produce breaking news and enterprise pieces explaining the impact of Washington policy on the bottom lines of – and ordinary people in – both Corporate America and Main Street businesses.

Key areas include, but are not limited to, financial results, corporate planning, capitalization, earnings, tax planning, and regulatory distortions. A commitment to high-impact, straight news and an eye for a story and an interest in real people is essential.

The Examiner is driving record traffic to its website – we want you to help drive more – and is an exciting and vibrant place to work. We are expanding our newsroom as the 2020 election campaign begins and are investing in high-quality journalism.

Responsibilities: identifying, reporting and writing an average of four breaking business stories a day; developing enterprise pieces for the Examiner’s website as well as for the weekly magazine; creating a long-term schedule of articles.

Qualifications: two or more years of news experience; a basic understanding of financial statements; excellent reporting and writing skills; demonstrated ability in beat coverage and generating scoops.
