Washington Examiner seeks a business reporter

The Washington Examiner is looking for a talented and experienced business writer to play a leading role in its coverage of the intersection of politics and business.

The job entails working with another writer and a supervising editor to cover national and international business trends as well as corporate decisions and market moves. An essential part of this work is to report on the impact that policy decisions in Washington have on Corporate America.

Legislation and regulation affect the decisions that businesses big and small make about their planning, growth, product lines, location, and much more. Washington policymakers have an outsized impact on business tax planning, capitalization, revenues and profits. We want to report on all of this.

The ideal candidate will be able to read both a balance sheet and federal regulations to find and break the type of news other outlets miss, as well as have demonstrated ability in beat coverage and generating scoops. That, along with excellent reporting and writing skills and a commitment to high-impact, straight news and an eye for a story and an interest in real people is essential.

The position both writes and edits breaking and long-form business pieces for the website and print magazine. The Washington Examiner is driving record traffic to its website, and we want you to help drive more. It is an exciting and vibrant place to work. We are expanding our newsroom as the 2020 election campaign begins and are investing in high-quality journalism.
