The New York-based reporter will sit at the intersection of big themes that touch markets, economies and investors all over the world, and should be eager to explain these dynamics to a general audience.
The reporter will be expected to write about the daily moves of financial markets and also pitch and deliver her or his own coverage ideas. The reporter should develop deep expertise that bolsters the Journal’s standing as an indispensable source of financial news. She or he must participate in all aspects of story planning and execution across a variety of newsroom teams and platforms.
That includes conceiving visuals, writing headlines and figuring out how to best reach and engage the Journal’s audience.
The successful candidate will be able to tell stories in a variety of formats, including quick analysis of breaking news, chart packages, podcasts, video and in-depth enterprise projects. Experience covering financial markets is strongly preferred, though candidates with a proven track record of scoops and enterprise on a related beat are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants should be able to file content with speed, accuracy and clarity that conforms with house style. She or he should also be a critical thinker, able to work well both independently and in a team, receptive to feedback and open to change. This role will report to the U.S. Stocks Editor.
