Wall Street Journal seeks senior reporter to cover Asia

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a senior reporter to dive into the biggest stories in Asia, based in Hong Kong.

Reporters on this team have burnished coverage of everything from the Thai cave rescue to the New Zealand mosque shootings to Amazon in Asia. They’ve also turned out substantial investigative work on North Korea, China’s surveillance state and the Rohingya crisis.

This is a terrific opportunity for reporters able to mine regional trends and jump into major breaking news events to produce substantial works of news and enterprise for the front page and beyond.

The ideal candidate is an endlessly curious, highly efficient reporter able to get quickly to the heart of big, complex, fast-moving news events. This reporter should also be an ambitious self-starter eager to get published and able to identify topics worthy of sustained effort. Fluency in an Asian language and experience in the region would be a plus but aren’t requirements. Excellent news judgment, proven reporting skills and strong writing are.
