The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced reporter who is fluent in Mandarin and markets to cover China’s stock, bond and currency markets from the financial center of Shanghai.

The Journal wants someone who can identify and explain important changes in Chinese asset prices, and put those in a global context.

You will cover market moves in real time and produce deep dives and high-profile enterprise features on the activities of financial institutions in China. You will have plenty of chances to break stories and write insightful analyses. China’s deepening integration into the global financial system, despite trade and economic stresses, is likely to be a central theme.

You will have to source deeply with traders and money managers, and find the winners and losers when the markets convulse. The Journal is looking for someone who can find compelling characters, from star hedge fund managers to euphoric retail traders, to bring stories to life.

This job reports to Quentin Webb, Asia Markets Editor in Hong Kong.
