The Off Duty section of The Wall Street Journal, a lifestyle service section that appears weekly in print and daily on wsj.com , is seeking a news assistant to work with its food, design, travel and gear sections.

This is an entry-level position that would be suitable for applicants with at least one year of experience in relevant lifestyle editorial or recent journalism graduates with relevant internships and experience.

The Journal is looking for someone with a passion for organization, who is meticulously detail-oriented, responsible, able to juggle a wide variety of responsibilities both administrative and creative, and eager to participate in all facets of a national lifestyle publication. A lively sense of humor and a grasp of the lifestyle zeitgeist are definite assets. The person in this position will have opportunities to report, write and pitch story ideas, depending on aptitude and skill set.

The news assistant would be responsible for calling in products related to photo shoots for design, food, travel and gear coverage, organize timely arrivals, and package and return products.

In addition, he or she would fact check stories, perform research related to design, food, travel and gear, research and suggest products to be featured in quarterly special issues with ever-changing themes and write supporting text as needed.

This person would help move stories through production, assist in finding props for photo shoots, report and write short pieces, update and organize PR contact lists and perform a wide range of other administrative tasks.
