Variety seeks TV business reporter

VarietyVarietyVariety is hiring a reporter to cover the TV business. We are seeking a strong writer who is well-connected with good sources within the TV industry, from executives to agents to publicists.

Must be passionate about breaking news, with an eye for exclusives.

The right candidate will be able to identify and report on breaking news and bigger picture TV stories.

Requirements:

  • Solid TV industry reporting experience (3+ years)
  • Be able to analyze, interpret, and break hard news
  • Build pipeline to report exclusives
  • Be a self-starter, enterprising
  • Must be willing to work in our West Los Angeles office

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
