Variety, part of rapidly growing media company Penske Media Corp. (PMC), is seeking an intrepid Senior Film Reporter to break big film industry news on our website and also write probing, insightful and analytic stories for our weekly magazine.
The Senior Film Reporter is expected to produce profiles of influential media figures, executives, filmmakers and talent. In this highly competitive media landscape, our ideal candidate is someone who is deeply committed and can therefore get news out ahead of our competitors.
Variety leads the conversation in Hollywood. Our ideal candidate must be able to work fast to post news breaks online while also being able to quickly identify, synthesize and contextualize significant industry trends for our readers in a swiftly changing entertainment business. Our Senior Film Reporter must be driven, focused and relentless. The ideal candidate must also be collaborative with colleagues – in other words, he/she is expected to be a true team player.
This exempt position is based in our new West Los Angeles headquarters.
Job Qualifications:
· Strong understanding of, and passion for, business.
· Solid reporter and conceptual thinker prolific with story leads.
· Proven reporting and writing skills, with the ability to produce top-rate content and clean copy in a fast-paced newsroom.
· Willing to dig deep to get the story.
· Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent work experience.
