USA Today seeks content news editor for Consumer and Money team

USA Today is looking for a savvy editor who can work with a team of reporters on USA Today’s Consumer and Money team to provide daily supervision of coverage in our core areas: how to save, spend, work and live.

This editor would be responsible for shaping stories with reporters and editing quick-turn enterprise and breaking-news articles. We also want someone who can anticipate which trending stories will become big and would appeal to USA Today’s readers, who focus on how the news impacts them as consumers. The ideal candidate knows best practices for using SEO, identifying trends and thinking sharply about what kind of enterprise stories would be unique and resonate with our readers. This editor must understand that collaboration within the team and across the newsroom is a must. Some of the traits we’re looking for include:

  • Some management experience working with a team.
  • A good eye for stories and storytelling
  • Conversant in business terms and concepts.
  • Comfort editing financial markets stories involving stocks and other widely known assets like cryptocurrencies.
  • Comfort working with social media
  • Implementing best SEO practices
