US News & World Report seeks investing editor

The Consumer Advice team at U.S. News & World Report, which strives to help people make smarter decisions when it comes to saving and spending, retirement, careers and investing, is seeking an editor for our online investing content.

This role includes working with freelancers and contributors, as well as writing your own insightful analysis of stocks, mutual funds, ETFs and personal finance as it relates to individual investors.

Strong writing and editing skills are required, and an investing/personal finance background is a must. This position is located in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:

Requirements:

  • Three to five years of reporting and editing experience; reporting background in business or investing
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Solid understanding of SEO concepts, Web analytics and social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Strong knowledge of investing topics, including mutual funds and ETFs, as well as retirement issues
  • The ability to multitask and work on tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
