The Consumer Advice team at U.S. News & World Report, which strives to help people make smarter decisions when it comes to saving and spending, retirement, careers and investing, is seeking a Senior Editor to oversee our online investing content (money.usnews.com/funds/investing-insights).
This role includes managing and editing a staff of full-time writers, freelancers and bloggers, as well as guiding the content strategy for the investing section and supporting investing-related ranking and data projects.
Strong editing, assigning and newsroom management skills are required, and an investing background is a must (including a working knowledge of mutual funds and ETFs). This position is located in Washington, D.C. within walking distance of Foggy Bottom metro station.
Responsibilities:
· Manage and recruit reporters, freelancers and bloggers, and generate and tailor content with a consumer-advice focus
· Edit and publish daily online content to the Smarter Investor blog (http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs/the-smarter-mutual-fund-investor)
· Edit investing stories from staff writers and contributors
· Generate story ideas and guide investing content strategy
· Work closely with data, product and design teams to improve research products, including Best Mutual Funds (money.usnews.com/funds/mutual-funds), Best ETFs (money.usnews.com/funds/etfs) and Financial Advisors (http://money.usnews.com/financial-advisors)
Requirements:
· At least five years of editing experience; reporting background in business or investing is a plus
· Experience with content management systems
· Solid understanding of SEO concepts, Web analytics and social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter
· Strong knowledge of investing topics, including mutual funds and ETFs, as well as retirement issues
· The ability to multitask and work on tight deadlines
· Good communication skills
