US News seeks real estate editor

The Real Estate team at U.S. News & World Report is seeking a Real Estate Editor with a deep passion for real estate journalism.

The beat includes a wide range of real estate topics, including buying a home, selling a home, mortgages and financing, renting and home improvement.

The editor will manage a daily publication schedule with a mix of evergreen and news stories, write several stories per week, produce photo galleries and contribute to social media efforts. We’re looking for someone who will also generate innovative, cutting-edge story ideas (think: data visualization) and be on top of real estate trends.

This position is based in the U.S. News office, located in Washington, D.C.

Qualifications:

·         3+ years writing and editing for a digital publication

·         Knowledge of and passion for real estate topics

·         Proven writing and editing skills

·         Ability to pitch story ideas and plan for future content

·         Familiarity with U.S. News and the ability to master U.S. News’ consumer advice voice

·         Ability to multitask and work on deadlines in a fast-paced journalism environment

·         Exceptional communication and organizational skills

·         Strong understanding of SEO and experience with online analytics reporting

·         Savvy with social media
