Upstate New York paper seeks business reporter

The Times Herald-Record in Middletown, New York, is looking for a business reporter for covering stories throughout the Record coverage area, as they happen or after the fact, with acute awareness of the immediacy of web-first, on-demand journalism.

Reporters tell stories on various platforms, including print, online and mobile. The reporter needs to be adept at all aspects of business reporting hard news and features, seeking opportunities to bring stories home to our audiences. Must have an understanding of business community regarding banks, credit unions, retail business, real estate and the various aspects of the growing health-care field.

Reporter is expected to be capable of both writing and take still video photography as circumstances dictate.

Must have the ability and willingness to:
*Write articles for the print and web editions
*Take photographs or shoot video (or a combination) as necessary to tell the story

Skills/Qualifications:
*Three-five years of newspaper reporting experience
*Strong news judgment, background in business reporting and understanding of the Hudson Valley/Catskill regions
*Capable of using a video camera and/or camera equipment with still and video capabilities
