The Upstart Business Journal seeks a reporter who will cover the New York venture capital and startup scene, primarily for the New York Business Journal but also as a contributor to the Upstart Business Journal.
Duties:
Write 3-4 posts daily about the venture capital/startup scene in New York. Write weekly column for Upstart on venture capital topic. Develop digital centerpieces. Develop and produce slideshows and video. Help manage social channels for NY/Upstart.
Skills:
Ability to work independently and remotely. Ability to break news and to identify newsworthy events and sources. Strong writing, analytical and investigative interviewing skills. Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure. Experience with using social media to source and promote content a plus. Ability to shoot and produce video packages as added value to posts.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing. Experience covering startups and venture capital a must. Experience with New York-based companies preferred, but all interested and qualified Business Journal reporters will be considered.
