U.S. News & World Report seeks personal finance editor

U.S. News & World Report is looking to hire a personal finance editor. In this position, you will have the opportunity to use your strengths and skills to help readers choose the best credit card or loan for them.

You will be responsible for editing credit card and lender profiles; advice articles; core guides on topics like debt consolidation loans, student loans, mortgages, rewards credit cards and balance transfer credit cards; and other content.

You will also edit the credit cards and loans “best” list content and consumer advice articles for flow, consistency, tone, audience, brevity and accuracy.

You will also be tasked with recruiting, training and managing a group of high-quality freelancers to write content for these projects. Responsibilities also include fact-checking, testing pages associated with the company’s lists to ensure error-free work and, occasionally, writing short-form profiles and updating guide pages.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-6 years of professional editing experience at a media company
  • Strong copy-editing skills and excellent communication and organization skills
  • Experience analyzing data and incorporating data into content
  • Ability to edit content for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
  • Experience editing in a content management system and expertise and prior experience using AP style
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve content and better engage audiences with the ability to collaborate with multiple teams
  • Journalism or related degree or equivalent experience
