TheStreet seeks business news editor

TheStreet seeks an experienced business news editor in its New York bureau.

The editor will work with Street editors and contributors to produce clear, engaging columns and news stories on a variety of business and general interest topics. The editor must be skilled at writing sharp, intelligent prose for a wide audience. The editor must be experienced in markets with an understanding of stock valuation and investment practices.

Time spent in the trenches of business reporting is essential, and a desire to write and report stories and columns is also a plus. He or she must be able to write compelling, provocative headlines in real time. An appreciation of search engine optimization is a must.

The right candidate will be able to edit stories, write headlines, fact-check and assign stories on a wide variety of business and market news.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
