TheStreet.com seeks weekend reporter

TheStreet.com, an award-winning financial media company, is seeking a Weekend Reporter to be based in New York who will be responsible for sourcing, developing, analyzing and writing news stories and features for financial news web sites and digital products.

This role is a full-time position, with the work week schedule being flexible.

Responsibilities:
• Write stories with primary responsibility for weekend coverage
• Provide real-time coverage and produce multiple daily market updates
• Create engaging content for multiple social media platforms
• Gather and verify factual information through interview, observation, and research
• Evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 1 year prior financial reporting experience
• Strong writing and questioning/investigative skills
• Knowledgeable about market trends and can provide sophisticated analysis that will be useful to a readership of retail investors, investment bankers, attorneys, money managers, and other market professionals
• Comfortable with financial terminology and numbers
• Ability to create engaging content on social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter
• Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
