The Verge is looking for a Transportation Reporter to cover the products and technologies that move us — cars, bicycles, trains, watercraft, aircraft, hyperloops, and everything in between.
You should excel in a fast-paced environment, have a broad knowledge of current events in the transportation industry, and be able to write quickly, accurately, and in a voice that fits The Verge. You’ll be responsible for breaking news and leading online conversations about companies big and small, contributing multiple stories a week, all written with the right tone. A sense of humor, where appropriate, is vital.
The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of online writing and editing experience, with a sharp news sense and a deep love of transportation in all of its forms. Photography skills are a must. This is an intense, demanding position, but one that’ll be hugely rewarding for the right person — someone who lives and breathes writing news, and is excited at the idea of reaching an audience of 30 million people each month. Are you that person? We want to hear from you.
TL;DR if you’re a smart, fast, and opinionated writer with a desire to build things off the beaten path in one of the fastest growing companies in media, this is the position for you.
