The Steamboat Pilot & Today seeks an assistant editor

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is looking for a dynamic assistant editor to help guide newsroom operations.

The person who fills this position must take a leadership role in our newsroom including working closely with reporters to edit and proofread articles for content and clarity, helping to produce the daily newspaper and assisting with our digital engagement and website responsibilities, as well as with a handful of magazines and special publications.

Candidates for this position should have a proven record of success in a newsroom setting, love community journalism, hate typos and want to live in one of the most amazing places in the U.S.

Management experience would be helpful, but we’ll make an exception for the right candidate who has a history of success in the journalism industry and is looking to move into a management role. The position will require working some nights, weekends and holidays. Generally, the job will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, though some flexibility will be required.

Salary Range — $45,000-$52,000, depending on experience. Competitive benefits include medical, dental, vision after 60 days of employment, $500 recreation bonus after six months and 401k Plan, including a company match, after one year.

To apply, please send your resume, a cover letter and at least three editing or reporting clips to epace@steamboatpilot.com.
